Carrie Jones | Need | Need Series #1

Need is the first book in the series, including Captivate and Entice. Refreshingly written by Carrie Jones, Need introduces Pixies and a variety of different weres., later in the series, we are also given a slice of Norse mythology.
Our main protagonist, also a female, is Zara White. She chants phobias when she is nervous, is a supporter of Amnesty International, and has a dead step-father.
When Zara moves to Maine to live with her grandmother, she expects a cold, boring, and relatively normal time. But what she doesn't expect is to meet up with her long-gone dad, who is actually a pixie king, get a boyfriend, who is actually a were-wolf, find out that her other friend is a were-eagle and her grandmother a were-tiger, discover her heritage to be supernatural and murderous, and then be expected to man up, get over it and battle everything all at the same time.
I got this book for Christmas because I asked for it, and boy! Did I love it. Need is a gripping page-turner about discovering your past, finding out who the hell you are, and plain dealing with it. I love the idea with the pixie king (Cough-cough DAD!) and the different types of weres. The general reading part of it has a nice fluentness to it, and the characters are lovable, even if they're not on the good side. I thoroughly enjoyed this series, and cannot wait for book number 4!
